Winter Wonderland

Sweater: American Apparel
Skirt: Forever XXI
Shoes: Top Shop (At Jonathan + Olivia)

It's that time of year again..."The most wonderful time of the year", right? Well, I have to say the below zero temperatures and on-and-off snow does not exactly bring out my holiday cheer. Not one to let the cold put me into a 5-month hibernation, I opt for cozy knits and full-length skirts to keep me warm.

Say what...?

Alright, alright, we get it, Crystal Renn is a buxom babe. And yes, Carine Roitfeld, editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue, is God's gift to fashion editorials. Add Tom Ford to the equation and together they created this crazy (and I mean crazy), but sensational photo editorial. Playing around with plastic surgery and the "cougar" craze in the newest issue of Paris Vogue, this trifecta of perfection gives me the tingles.

Pre-Fall YAY! (Warning: Photo-heavy)

My, oh my. I just can't hide my excitement when I flip to style.com one day and right there, before my eyes are brand spanking new collections! Once more I can melt over fabrics and textures and color palates I can never pull off in real life. I prefer to live my life in shades of gray, yet I fawn over collections filled with burnt oranges, deep purples, and the gold shimmer of the season. Here's a run down of what I've loved so far, and a few honorable mentions that couldn't be ignored.

CHANEL

There's no question that Chanel has forever been synonymous with elegance and glamour. But Uncle Karl pulled out all of the stops for this embellished and quite honestly, surprising pre-fall collection. Claiming inspiration from the decadent Byzantium era, there was no holding back this season. Volume was present in every garment, from chunky knits, exaggerated trousers, and my girl-crush Freja's finale look, a floor-length, brocade and lace coat. After over 20 years of designing for this iconic label, Karl obviously still has a barrel of tricks up that perfectly tailored sleeve of his.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Since the 12th grade, when I insisted my sister re-create a look from his S/S 2007 collection (thanks Sammi!), I've been a bit of an Oscar de la Renta enthusiast. I find his taste to be both elegant and modern, and his ability to experiment with volume and fabric is impeccable. Let's say Audrey Hepburn were the Chanel of the Hollywood-world; Oscar de la Renta is without a doubt the elegance and glamour of Miss Grace Kelly herself. I can't help but feel flirty and feminine just LOOKING at the shimmery color palate and chic silhouettes.

Brief Hiatus

Dearest friends and (few) followers;

I am a blogging-jerk and it's been way too long since I've posted anything on this here site. School has taken over and left even fewer moments for much-needed procrastination, and therefore I will be taking a brief (BRIEF!) hiatus from the blogosphere until the end of the week. But don't worry, you can still go to yourkloset.com and check out the give-away goodies going on for Chrismukkah 2010, and occupy yourselves with festive movies (particularly ones involving JTT) and an unhealthy amount of exam anxiety. Until then, I leave you with this video I found on my friend Leigh's blog. I dig it. A lot. It's overtly sexual and superpbly cheeky. Right up my alley.

Until next time...

Summer Lovin'

I know it's been a few months since it was released, but I just wanted to give you all a look at the fashion film I styled over the summer. Directed by my best gal, and starring the lovely Leigh Farrell, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.  It was a sweltering 40 degree day, so please excuse my extremely voluminous (aka frizzy as hell) hair. I hope you enjoy a little taste of summer times past on this cold late-fall eve. x

Aurevoir Monsieur...

At the end of this past work week, I'd decided I was going to give myself a weekend to be a bit of a hermit, get some work done, and still get in a lovely lazy Sunday. And now, I give myself a pat on the back for finishing my French Cinema essay; one which, for some reason took me weeks to wrap my head around.  So to reward myself I came home from a serious Scrabble game to pamper myself with some Shine Gloss and a new episode of Fashion Television. I know it's belated, but their feature on Jean Paul Gaultier's last collection for Hermes reminded me how much I loved it when I first saw it, and I couldn't resist a quick post. The creamy brown, tan, and black colour palette is so warm, I can't help but want to lick it. And the straight brim hats sitting atop the heads of some of my favourite models were gorgeous. Joe Fresh's S/S collection had similar ones that I would love to get my hands on. So enjoy this sumptuous collection of western inspired ready to wear. I know I did.

Current form of procrastination...

What is it about the '80s and '90s that makes us all so damn nostalgic? My current form of procrastination: The age of the supermodels and their oh so glam, oh me oh my adverts from the decade that just won't die. Long live beanie babies, Shannen Doherty, and Versace jeans.

actually from 1971, but I simply couldn't help myself.
